Privacy Policy
This policy explains how ArteeZan collects, uses, shares, protects, and retains personal data needed to operate a trusted artisan marketplace in Ghana.
Last updated: May 22, 2026
Ghana-aware privacy notice
This policy is written with awareness of Ghana's Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843), and practical marketplace operations. It should be reviewed by privacy counsel before production reliance.
1. Information we collect
- - Account details such as name, email, phone number, password credentials, role, status, and activation records.
- - Profile details such as business name, bio, skills, years of experience, service areas, availability, portfolio media, ratings, and reviews.
- - Job and booking details such as descriptions, budgets, photos, locations, quotes, selected artisans, milestones, completion records, and dispute evidence.
- - Support, message, notification, audit, device, log, and security information generated when users interact with the platform.
2. Verification and uploaded files
Artisan verification may involve identity documents, certificates, work samples, references, profile photos, intro videos, admin notes, and review outcomes. These records are used to assess eligibility, prevent fraud, support disputes, and maintain marketplace trust.
3. Location, payment, and transaction data
- - Location data helps match customers and artisans by city, service area, distance, pricing context, and job availability.
- - Payment data may include transaction references, payment status, amounts, refunds, escrow or milestone status, payout records, and provider responses.
- - ArteeZan should not intentionally store full card details where a payment provider can process them securely.
4. How we use information
- - Create accounts, authenticate users, activate profiles, and manage role-based dashboards.
- - Match job requests with artisans, display public profiles, process quotes, manage bookings, and track progress.
- - Process payments, payouts, refunds, fraud checks, disputes, support requests, and safety reports.
- - Send transactional messages, service notices, security alerts, and user-requested notifications.
- - Improve search, category coverage, service quality, reliability, analytics, and marketplace safety.
5. Legal and operational reasons for processing
We process data to provide requested services, perform marketplace obligations, protect users and the platform, comply with legal duties, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, and improve operations. Where consent is required, users may withdraw consent subject to legal, payment, security, and dispute-retention limits.
6. Sharing and service providers
We may share necessary information with payment processors, hosting providers, storage providers, email and SMS tools, analytics services, support tools, fraud-prevention services, professional advisers, regulators, law enforcement, or counterparties in a booking where needed to operate ArteeZan or comply with law.
7. Public marketplace information
Some artisan profile information, service areas, skills, ratings, portfolio media, and reviews may be visible to customers or the public. Job details may be visible to relevant artisans or support users depending on the workflow. Users should not upload private or sensitive information unless needed for a job or verification process.
8. Cookies, analytics, and device information
ArteeZan may use cookies, local storage, device identifiers, logs, and analytics tools to keep users signed in, protect accounts, remember preferences, measure performance, troubleshoot errors, and improve product decisions.
9. Retention
We keep data for as long as needed to operate accounts, support bookings, maintain payment and payout records, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, meet legal obligations, and preserve audit trails. Some data may remain after account closure where required for safety, legal, tax, payment, or dispute reasons.
10. Security
We use practical administrative, technical, and access-control measures to protect personal data. No online system is risk-free, so users should protect account credentials, use trusted devices, and report suspicious activity quickly.
11. User rights and choices
- - Users may request access, correction, update, restriction, or deletion of personal information where applicable.
- - Users may update profile information from their dashboards where supported.
- - Certain records may be retained or restricted when needed for legal compliance, fraud prevention, payment processing, dispute handling, or platform safety.
12. Children, international processing, and updates
ArteeZan is not intended for children to create marketplace accounts. Data may be processed by providers outside Ghana where needed to run the service. We may update this policy as features, laws, providers, and operating requirements change.
13. Contact
For privacy questions, correction requests, deletion requests, or data protection concerns, contact [email protected]. Include the account email or booking reference where relevant.
